Wild Branch was asked to create a master suite atop an existing garage, and tie the addition into the existing log home. Working through and repairing the structure of the garage below and tying into the log home demanded a thoughtful and well executed plan. Our approach was simple, a clean aesthetic that avoided looking like an afterthought on the original structure. To do this we opted to forgo logs instead choosing a more contemporary material that worked with the logs, and offered a contrast to highlight the new space and it’s importance to the home. The space offers sweeping views of the Mad River Valley below, framed with large windows in the sitting area and carefully placed windows throughout to bring the outdoors in and honor the homes placement in the mountains.
